Benefits of FAR Infrared Saunas

Infrared heat penetrates two (2) inches into the body increasing blood circulation and cellular activity.

It is estimated that the average sauna user can easily bum close to 600 calories in one 30-minute session.

Your sauna can be the ultimate getaway from reality and stress. Try our relaxing music CDs to experience top-tier relaxation.

Sauna sessions can open pores that have been clogged to release the impurities.

Heat therapy penetrates deep into the muscle tissue relieving aches, pain, stiffness, and muscle spasms. Great for fibrornyalgia & arthritis pain.

By creating an "artificial fever," FAR infrared heat has a positive effect on the immune system. Often misunderstood, fever is a natural healing response of the body.

The thermal effect within the deep layers of the tissues causes blood vessels and capillaries to dilate, promoting better blood circulation.

Is the sauna difficult to assemble?

No, HealthSmart Saunas are very user friendly. The sauna snaps together very easily with a male and female bracket system and does not require any special plumbing, venting, or tools. The only tool required is a screwdriver to secure the cover on the roof. Assembly may take 20-60 mlnutes.

Can I put my sauna outside?

HealthSmart Saunas are not recommended for outdoor use because the elements (rain and snow) will cause damage to the wood and the electronics located in the roof of the sauna. A special cover can be ordered if you choose to put your sauna outdoors. NOTE: HealthSmart will not honor the warranty if the sauna has been outside, regardless if you have a cover or not.

What kind of electrical hookups do I need for my sauna?

The HS200/300 can be plugged into your normal 110/120 15V amp outlet. The HS400/450 needs a dedicated 110/120 20V amp outlet.

What is the warranty that comes with my sauna?

HeatIhSmart Saunas have a Iifetime warranty on the heating elements, electrical components, and the wood. A certain amount of expansion and contraction occurs in the wood. This may result in minor cracks, which considered normal and not covered under the warranty. The CD/DVD/LCD systems carry their own one (1) year manufacturers warranty. This warranty only extends to the original retail purchaser of the sauna. We offer a five (5) year warranty on heaters and controls to our direct commercial customers.

How do I clean my sauna?

HealthSmart Saunas require minimal maintenance. Before using your sauna for the first time, clean the inside with a damp cloth. Use towels on the bench and on the floor to absorb perspiration during your sauna session. (Aways take the towels out when you are done with your session.) To clean perspiration stains, use a mild liquid soap with warm water (best when applied with a scrub brush). Scratches and difficult stains can be removed by using a fine grade of sandpaper over the affected area. Inspect benches regularly for any required maintenance.

How do I install my sauna when it arrives?

For detailed information, refer to the installation and instruction manual included with your sauna. Installation is very easy and can usually be completed within 20-60 minutes. The only tool you will need is a screwdriver to secure the cover on the roof. There is a special male-to-female bracket system, so all of the panels snap together very easily.

How is my sauna shipped?

Your sauna is shipped in three individually packaged boxes. The first box contains the front and rear panels; the second box contains the left and right side panels; and the third box contains the roof panel, bottom panel, bench heater panel, and bench pannel. In addition, the accessory package includes the installation/instruction manual, CD/DVD manual, and miscellaneous screws.

How long can I stay in my sauna and what is the appropriate temp?

This varies with each individual. Always consult with your doctor if you have health issues or concerns. As with any form of exercise, it's important to build up tolerance. We recommend beginning your sauna session at 15-20 minutes per day, three (3) times a week. Once your body is conditioned to it, gradually increase the length of your session by 15 minutes intervals. The most effective temperature range is between 115F-130F. These are tolerable temperatures resulting in a more comfortable, relaxed session that will allow you to enjoy more time in your sauna. Stay hydrated! Make sure to drink water consistently during your sauna session.

What features are not covered by the warranty?

Most features are covered for the first 12 months (from the delivery date of the sauna). After the 12-month period is over, the following are not covered under warranty: -inside/outside LED lights -oxygen ionizer -speakers -chromotherapy lights -AM/FM stereo -CD/DVD/LCD However, replacement parts can be purchased for HealthSmart Saunas! What is the difference between carbon fiber heaters and ceramic tubes?

Carbon fiber infrared heat is the latest in sauna therapy technology. The major benefits of carbon fiber infrared heat comes from the material itself as well as the infrared heat that is emitted. Infrared heat is a dry heat that focuses its energy on the object without heating the air. This is why it is so effective at low temperatures. Carbon fiber is a modern composite that is renowned for its ability to conduct heat. Studies have shown that it can be up to 98% effective at tunning energy into infrared heat, resulting in low maintenance costs. The carbon fiber panels are flat and spread out over a large surface area. The entire surface area is heated producing an evenly distributed heat. Metal and ceramic rods need to concentrate the heat in a small area, so they must run at a higher temperature to diperse and maintain the desired heat level. The concentrated heat can cause burns when it comes into contact with skin. Carbon fiber panels, although hot, are safe to touch. The ceramic tubes do not surround the entire surface area of the suna making it less efficient in heating the object. In addition, they have hot spots, so certain areas of your sauna will have sufficient infrared heat while others have none.

What special features are included in a HealthSmart Sauna?

What type of wood do you use?

HealthSmart offers offers both cedar and hemlock, the most popular woods used to manufacture infrared saunas. We have found that half of our customers prefer Canadian/Alaskan hemlock and half prefer Canadian red cedar. People base their decision on the following criteria: the price difference and the color of the wood. Some people feel the aromatic cedar smell reminds them of a traditional sauna. A small percentage of people have allergic reactions to cedar oil and preform the non-allergenic hemlock.

Hemlock Wood Saunas -
• Canadian/Alaskan Hemlock tree
• Light colored wood
• Slight natural wood aroma
• Lower cost
• Non-allergenic
• Non-toxic
Hemlock is a light wood, blonde in color, making it perfect for any decor. It adds a touch of class to the room. Hemlock is a soft wood used by many sauna companies. It is an excellent wood for people with allergies. Hemlock wood is a little more dense than cedar, making it heavier than cedar. As an example, a cedar sauna that weighs 400 pounds would weigh 450 pounds using hemlock wood. Cedar Wood Saunas -
• Canadian Red Cedar tree
• Dark colored wood
• Natural cedar aroma
• Cedar oil may cause allergic reaction in a small percentage of sensitive people
• Non-toxic
Canadian Red Cedar is darker in color, which adds elegance to your home decor. It is renowned for its aromatic features, as well as its ability to withstand climate changes and moisture. Cedar resists cracking and splitting caused by the heating up and cooling down in the sauna. The cedar oil is a natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial property of the cedar wood.

Where can a sauna be installed in the home?

Your HealthSmart Sauna can be placed in various locations within your home or business. Due to the nature of the infrared heat, you do not have to worry about moisture problems that are created by a conventional steam sauna. While selecting the perfect location for your sauna, you want to consider a location that is dry and level. You will also want to make sure you will have the correct electrical outlet for your model of sauna. For safety, the best location is between the wall of the sauna and the wall with outlet. The most popular locations for saunas are in the basement of your home, exercise/recreation area, an enclosed patio, or even in your master bedroom or bathroom. Many empty-nester people are also creating special serenity rooms in their spare bedroom.

Will there be a substantial increase in my electric bill each month?

No, infrared saunas are very energy efficient. For example, the HealthSmart 2-person model uses only 1600 watts of power and energy efficient LED lighting. If you use your sauna five (5) days a week for two (2) hours per day, it should only add about $5.00 - $10.00 to your monthly electric bill.
