Infrared is light you feel as heat. It comes in three bands, and the wavelength — not the name — decides how far into your body the energy travels.

The part most brands get wrong

Despite the name, far-infrared doesn't reach the furthest — near-infrared does. Far-infrared is absorbed at the skin's surface, then your bloodstream carries that heat inward to raise your core temperature. “detox”
Let's be honest

What about "detox"?

You'll see infrared saunas sell "detox" everywhere. The honest version: your liver and kidneys handle detoxification, and sweat is over 99% water. Studies can detect trace metals and chemicals in sweat, but the amounts are vanishingly small next to what your organs clear every day. So we won't tell you a sweat "flushes toxins." What a session really delivers — a deep sweat, a surge in circulation, and a genuine sense of reset — is more than enough.

Use it well
  • Hydrate before and after — never sauna dehydrated, and skip it after alcohol.
  • If you're pregnant, manage a heart condition or blood pressure, or take medication that affects how you handle heat, talk to your doctor first.
  • Keep children's sessions short and supervised.
  • Step out if you feel dizzy or unwell. Most people do 30–45 minutes — more isn't better.

Infrared, answered honestly.

Does infrared really penetrate deep into the body?
Near-infrared reaches a few millimeters into the tissue under your skin — millimeters, not inches, despite what some ads claim. Far-infrared is absorbed right at the surface and works by warming your skin and raising your core temperature through your bloodstream. The benefit is real; the "penetrates inches deep" line isn't.
Is infrared better than a traditional sauna?
Different, not strictly better. Traditional saunas have the deepest research base; infrared lets you reach a therapeutic core temperature at a more comfortable 120–140°F, which makes a daily habit easier. Both trigger the same core response — a higher heart rate, wider vessels, and a good sweat.
Will it help me recover, sleep, or feel less pain?
Many people feel relaxation and easier sleep right away. For recovery and joint comfort, the research is encouraging but still early — small studies show short-term relief. We'd rather tell you that than overpromise.
Does sweating "detox" my body?
